How To Get A New York State Marriage License


Any one who lives in the USA or any other Country is welcome to get  marry in  New York City &
New York State.

In order to get married you must obtain a Marriage License. The Manhattan City Clerk Office is on
141 Worth Street  New York, NY 10013       Hours: 8:30 am to 3:45 pm, Monday through Friday 





The fee for a Marriage License is $35 by Credit Card or Money Order payable to the City Clerk.


Your New York State Marriage License is valid for 60 days
(except for active military personnel, for whom the validity runs for 180 days).
A Marriage License issued in New York City can be used anywhere within New York State


Application Procedure  If  you can begin the application process online it will save you time.

The process must be completed in person at the Office of the City Clerk 
Regardless of whether you start the application process online or by filling out a paper form for your License, you and your prospective spouse must complete the process in person together at the Office of the City Clerk Office  .Please note  Proxy marriage is not permitted in New York.

At the City Clerk Office you will receive the application from the information desk and it  must be completed there. Your Marriage License will be processed while you wait and your will take the Marriage License with you when you leave theoffice.
 
You must wait a full 24 hours before your Marriage Ceremony can be performed unless you obtain a Judical Wavier.

Are you under the age of eighteen?
If either you or your prospective spouse is under the age of 18 years, you are required to have written parental consent to obtain a Marriage License.

What to bring to the City Clerk’s office to get our Marriage License
You must bring valid, government-issued identification and the necessary fees. It is also a good idea to bring proof of all previously terminated marriage(s), civil union(s) and domestic partnership(s), if applicable. 
 Such as:
• Driver's license, non-driver identification card, or learner's permit, with    photograph, from any state or United States territory;
• Active United States Military Identification Card;
• Valid passport;
• United States Certificate of Naturalization (less than ten years old);
• United States Alien Registration Card; or
• United States Employment Authorization Card.

Fees
The City Clerk’s fee for a Marriage License is $35, with an additional fee of $25 for your civil marriage ceremony. Fees are payable with money order or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express). Cash and personal checks are not accepted.

Are there any differences in the process for same-sex marriage and opposite-sex marriage in New York City? No. Under the Marriage Equality Act, New York City will offer same-sex marriages and opposite-sex marriages following the same process.

One witness will be needed for the ceremony
You need at least one witness 18 years of age or older. If need be our staff will be happy to step in for you.
